VALORANT Patch 13.08 is live for V26 Act 6 with a new Map Rating system, a changed version of Corrode, and a fresh Competitive map pool. Bind and Corrode are in. Ascent and Split are out. Riot also changed Corrode’s defender routes, Mid cover, and A Site plant zone.

You do not need to rebuild your sensitivity, crosshair, keybinds, or video settings for this patch. Riot did not change those systems. The useful prep is simpler: relearn Corrode’s Mid and retake routes, brush up on Bind, and give Map Rating enough new matches to become meaningful.

What changed in VALORANT Patch 13.08?

Patch 13.08 changes that affect normal play
Area What changed What it means
Map Rating Each map gets a private 0 to 500 score and a C to S grade. New matches build a map-specific view of your results.
Map pool Bind and Corrode enter; Ascent and Split leave. The swap applies to Competitive and Deathmatch.
Corrode Defender routes, Mid cover, and the A Site plant zone changed. Old rotation timing and some post-plant habits need another look.
Performance Score Riot explained combat-weight changes that went live during 13.06. Damage, adjusted kills, and adjusted deaths carry more weight than at launch.
Range in Queue Temporarily disabled while Riot tests a fix for a bugged queue state. Do not treat the missing option as a settings problem.

The patch also adds a new Queue and Mode Select screen, a Career navigation bar, several audio and weapon bug fixes, and new penalty totals from Act 5.

How Map Rating works

Map Rating tracks how you are doing on one map rather than folding everything into a single ranked badge. Riot gives each map a score from 0 to 500 and a letter grade from C through S.

The calculation uses four inputs:

  • Overall win rate on the map.
  • Attacker-side win rate.
  • Defender-side win rate.
  • Performance Score.

Recent matches count more than older ones. Nobody else can see your rating, and matches played before Patch 13.08 do not count. Everyone starts fresh.

You can find Map Rating in Agent Select, on the End of Game screen, and in Career. It is available in Competitive and Premier. Riot also shows your top Agents with the map data, which should make the rating more useful than a bare grade.

The cleanest way to use it is to look for a side-specific weakness. A low defender win rate points toward setup, rotation, or retake problems. A low attacker win rate may mean your group is losing opening space or reaching sites without enough utility. The grade tells you where to look; it does not tell you which mistake caused the result.

The V26 Act 6 Competitive map pool

Patch 13.08 puts Bind and Corrode into Competitive and Deathmatch, replacing Ascent and Split. The resulting seven-map Competitive rotation is:

  • Abyss
  • Bind
  • Corrode
  • Haven
  • Lotus
  • Summit
  • Sunset

Bind returns without a layout change in these notes. Corrode is the one that needs a fresh walkthrough. Ascent and Split can still exist outside the named Competitive and Deathmatch rotation, but they will not appear in those two queues while this pool is active.

Before your first ranked session, open a custom game on Corrode and Bind. Check your usual utility lineups, common plant spots, and minimap callouts. The VALORANT minimap settings guide is a quick baseline if the new pool exposes how little of the map your current view shows.

What changed on Corrode?

Riot focused on rotation time, Mid fights, and one post-plant angle.

Shorter defender routes

Defender paths into the back of A Site and B Site are shorter now. Riot said retakes were taking too long, so defenders should be able to rotate back into either site faster.

Attackers should expect help to arrive earlier than it did on the old layout. Defenders still have to decide when to rotate, but the map punishes a late read a little less.

Mid has new cover and a safer route toward A Link

The half wall in Mid is now metal and sits one meter farther out. That reduces wall spam and lets attackers move toward A Link without being seen from Top Mid as early.

Riot also moved the boxes at the back of Lower Mid toward B, added a jump-up, and raised a nearby wall so players cannot peek over it from the relocated boxes. If you relied on the old box angle or spam line, test it again before assuming it works.

The A Site plant zone changed

Riot adjusted the A Site plant zone to make post-plant play from A Link less effective. The notes do not give a universal replacement plant. Walk the site, check where the Spike can go now, and make sure your preferred plant still leaves a playable line for the position you plan to hold.

Performance Score changed before this patch

Patch 13.08 explains a Performance Score tuning pass, but Riot says those changes already went live during Patch 13.06. That distinction matters if you are comparing old end-of-game results with the new Map Rating.

Damage, adjusted kills, and adjusted deaths now have more impact. The adjusted values include first bloods and first deaths. Chamber also received role-specific scoring changes so his utility use is represented more accurately.

Riot said Performance Score and ACS picked the same Match MVP about 70% of the time at launch. The newer score is still meant to value more than fragging, but the tuning pulls some edge cases back toward damage and fight impact.

Act 5 penalties by the numbers

Riot also published penalty totals for the August 18 through October 1 detection period. It reported more than 171,000 cheater bans, 54,000 botter bans, 76,000 rank-manipulation bans, 74,000 toxicity or comms-abuse bans, and 288,000 penalties for repeated AFK or gameplay abuse. Another 14,000 accounts were penalized for stream-sniping or instalocking tools.

Those categories should not be added into one “unique players” total because Riot did not say whether an account can appear in more than one bucket. The useful takeaway is narrower: the publisher is now sharing enforcement totals by behavior, and it asked players to keep using in-game reports.

Do you need to change your VALORANT settings?

No. Patch 13.08 does not change mouse sensitivity, raw input, crosshair options, keybinds, resolution, or graphics controls. Keep the setup you already know.

If you want a short Act 6 check before Competitive:

  1. Load Corrode in a custom game and walk the new Mid and defender routes.
  2. Confirm that your minimap shows enough of Bind and Corrode for fast rotation reads.
  3. Play new matches before judging Map Rating, since old history is excluded.
  4. Ignore a missing Range in Queue button until Riot restores the feature.

Use the VALORANT sensitivity guide only if your aim already felt wrong before the patch. For a broader reference, the VALORANT pro settings hub collects current player pages, while the VALORANT ranks guide explains RR, MMR, party limits, and Rank Shields.

VALORANT Patch 13.08 FAQ

Can other players see my Map Rating?

No. Riot says Map Rating and its supporting stats are private.

Does old match history count toward Map Rating?

No. Everyone starts fresh, and matches from before the feature launched are excluded.

Which maps entered and left Competitive?

Bind and Corrode entered. Ascent and Split left. The same swap applies to Deathmatch.

Why is Range in Queue missing?

Riot temporarily disabled it after some players entered a bugged queue state. The patch notes say a fix is being tested.
