Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 dropped, and a new gamemode–-Delulu, was just added. Basically, players were expected to pair up with random players in the lobby (we’ll get into how and why later in the article) and then either betray or duel with them for a Victory Royale, netting you the limited edition Crashbrella umbrella.
So what really is Fortnite Delulu Mode?
Basically, a full lobby of 80 players start out solo in the normal no-build Battle Royale Island, but with a twist—instead of Fortnite automatically assigning you a squad (like in a normal game of Battle Royale), you are asked to make your own squad. Yup, a task much harder than getting top 10 in the leaderboards; human interaction.
To do this, a new gameplay mechanic exclusive to this gamemode was introduced, proximity voice chat. Max squad sizes are four, and you can even listen in to your teammates if you die, and talk with fellow dead teammates or non-teammates!
The gamemode pretty much doubles up on the whole ‘teaming’ issues with Battle Royales, incentivizing it instead of vilifying players for doing it.
What’s special about Fortnite Delulu Mode?

Aside from giving you the freedom to choose your teams as well as the much-awaited proximity voice chat? Nothing much, really. We suspect, clueing in from the whole LTM setup that this is a ‘tester’ gamemode of Epic Games, and they’re really just experimenting on what works and what doesn’t when it comes to their ginormous Battle Royale.
The limited gamemode will run on these times:
- September 19 at 9 AM ET ‘til September 22 at 9 AM ET
- September 26 at 9 AM ET ‘til September 29 at 9 AM ET
So, you better run out there and get a Victory Royale to win the limited-edition Crashbrella Umbrella:
